Manuscript of 74 plates of camera lucida drawings made by Carpenter between 1855 and 1863. The first 60 of the plates illustrate his Mazatlan catalog. Plates 61-68 illustrate type specimens examined by Carpenter for his Review of Prof. C. B. Adams’s ‘Catalogue of the shells of Panama,’ from the type specimens (Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London 1863: 339-369). (Many of these type specimens were subsequently lost.) Plates 69-74 illustrate Carpenter's work on Caedidae (text issued under title: First steps towards a monograph of the Caecidae, a family of rosteriferous Gasteropoda. (Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London 26: 413-444.) Plates 61-74 were never published. The ms. index pages accompanying the plates are not in Carpenter's hand, and appear to have been added later.
