The field notes document Bohumil Shimek's work in Osceola and Dickenson counties, Iowa; and other notes, 1900. Pages are numbered. Includes hand drawn map and notes about terrain and groves of trees (including type, size, age) and discussions of correlation between presence of trees and terrain characteristics. Some observed groves are numbered and then list detailed descriptions. Sometimes observations are dated. Center portion of the notebook is empty. Past halfway in the notebook, there are copied extracts of a reference text, after this is text in Czech.
