Correspondence from Second Lieutenant Egbert B. Birdsall to John Torrey, dated 1827. Birdsall writes from Jefferson Barracks, Missouri to offer Torrey the skull of an elk, with intact antlers, found by some of his fellow troops "at the point formed by the junction of the Yellowstone River with the Missouri."
