Notes

This diary contains notes from Nelson's field work and travels sometimes with Edward Goldman in Mexico in 11 April to 1 June 1900 and 9-23 January 1901. Notes are a narrative description of daily events, travel routes, and flora and fauna (mostly fish noted) of locations traveled through. Brief description of vegetation from Orizaba to Vera Cruz taken from the train is included. Description of fish in Frontera is also included. Vegetation along the Usumacinta River is also described. Nelson remarks on the now scarce once abundant alligator and egret. Brief miscellaneous notes from 1900 are included. Notes from 1901 include observations made in Cuba about the towns and people, and vegetation of Marida, Mexico. Nelson also mentions his colleague Goldman and his travels. A large portion of Nelson's notes are describing his route and non natural history observations such as descriptions of Maya in Marida and the people in towns he travels through.
