This notebook documents Nelson's field research in Arizona and Utah between 10 September and 9 October 1909. Nelson's daily, narrative entries describe the flora and fauna, particularly birds, of the locations he travels through. Taxonomic and common names are given for many species listed. Altitude of plants at Bright Angel Springs is included. Localities include but are not limited to Bright Angel Springs, Kanab, Saint George, Virgin City, Modena, Escalante Desert. Altitudes of localities and miles traveled are listed at the end of the notebook.
