Mearns's journal from the natural history expedition made by Brigadier General George A. Cook in Arizona. Although notes are out of order, they cover the period between 2-27 October 1884 and collector numbers for birds 3364-3470 (approximate range). Mearns records birds seen and collected, mammals seen, and the vegetation of locations traversed in this volume. Localities include but are not limited to Fossil Creek Canyon, Fort Verde (Camp Verde), Coyote Springs, Fort Apache, Ash Creek, and Gila River. Undated notes on the first few pages of this volume related to bird migration.
