Correspondence from Scots military surgeon Philip Whiteside Maclagen to John Torrey, dated 1843, offering to send Torrey plants from his posting in Canada. He also mentions that he is in possession of Douglas' copy of Pursh's "Flora" and offers to transcribe the marginalia for Torrey if he would like. Obsolete plant names mentioned include Silene inflata.
