Comprises the fourth of four field notebooks compiling Wetmore's observations and collecting efforts in Porto Rico [Puerto Rico] for the United States Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey, July 18 - September 15, 1912. The entries are chronological, with journal style entries. Wetmore observes and collects in a variety of terrain across the island, including the fields of farms and plantations. He records daily activities, trapping and preparation of specimens, appearance and behavior of flora and fauna. He has several trips into caves of the island, including La Iglesia de la Mora. He discusses the presence and effect of tobacco and coffee plantations on the environment. Collecting sites include the vicinity of: Bayamón, Juana Diaz, Ajuntas, Utuado, Cabo Rojo, Ponce, Grande de Arecibo, and Manatí.Entirety of entries are followed by a list of status of sexual organs of birds collected (numbers, scientific name, sex, and size). Dates and locations are also noted. From the Back of the notebook, he records bird lists for Bayamón, Utuado, Adjuntas, Juana Diaz, Cabo Rojo, Catimen), packages of specimens sent in (by date), and film.
