Field notes Vol. 239 documents Addison Brown's botanical observations in and around New York City, New Jersey, and surrounding areas during 1874-1880. The book is a printed daily journal for the calendar year 1874; Brown used it over a span of six years with entries corresponding to the month and day but changing the year. He recorded observations on plants in bloom throughout New York City, New Jersey, and New York State north of the city. He also recorded lists of plant specimens sent to him from various collectors.
