The field book documents E. A. Goldman's field work in Louisiana and Florida, April 3 - 23, 1939. Entries are dated and headed with location or route. Subject matter covers travel details (destinations, times of day, distances), daily activities, meetings and interactions with colleagues (in Louisiana), weather, terrain and vegetation, trapping and specimen collecting of mammals (moles) and birds (some with bird bands), observations of wildlife behavior, and photographs taken. Some specimen notes include measurements. A large portion of the notebook is blank. There are unidentified notes in the back of the notebook.
