"In the preparation of a report on the recent collections made by Thomas MacDougall in México, I find it necessary to recognize a new species of pygmy shrew (Cryptotis), two new species of spiny pocket mice (Heteromys and Liomys), three new subspecies of white-footed mice (Peromyscus), and a new subspecies of cotton rat (Sigmodon)."

Most specimens from the state of Oaxaca; one specimen from Chiapas.
