Most specimens are from the Gregorio Bondar collection of South American Curculionidae.

"The majority of species of Anchylorhynchus have been taken in the southeastern part of the continent, in southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and the part of Argentina bordering on the Rio de la Plata and the Rio Uruguay ... In the genus Petalochilus four of the five species occur in eastern Brazil, and one is from the coast of French Guiana"--P. 5.
