Report on issues raised at a symposium and workshop entitled "Research in Federally Reserved Lands in Northwest Alaska: Needs, Opportunities, Constraints," held in Anchorage September 1987. Issues raised centered on a growing concern for wise management of federal lands set aside with the passage of the Alaska National Interest Land Conservation Act in 1980 and an increasing awareness of the region's potential research value.
