This field book contains field notes on birds taken from 14 November 1982 to 26 January 1983 (then to 4 June 1983). Notes contain daily lists of various birds spotted in Virginia. Most of the birds listed were observed at Eike's home on 6207 Newman Road, Fairfax or in the surrounding area. Birds sighted in other locations may also be included. Notes often include weather and temperature information, quantity, sometimes time spotted, and the sex of the birds. Legend on the verso of the cover: triangle from rocker flying; "*" -- first sighting for Eike. Clipping about lunar eclipse, 12-29-82, is included. Eikes wife and daughter take over notes after 21 January 1983. Eike dies 8 February. There's a long break in the notes, then they resumes 3-11 and continue until 6-4-1983 (presumably continued by Claire Eike).
