This field book is a specimen list of mostly reptiles, amphibians, and birds that Stejneger collected during or after the biological survey of the San Francisco mountain region, 1889, led by C. Hart Merriam. Specimens listed in this field book were collected from various locations within California (ex. Calibasas), Arizona (ex. Prescott, Walnut Canyon), and the Grand Canyon. Additionally, specimens were collected in Utah, Silver City, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. Other locations may be included. Specimen entries range from brief lists to long descriptions of the specimen, where it was found, and the weather conditions. Many reptile specimens listed are lizards and many bird specimens listed are sparrows. Also includes business card and letter from the Arizona Citizen in Tucson, Arizona.
