The notebook documents work of William W. Welsh completed near Gloucester, Massachusetts and Maine coast, Grampus stations 10273-10301, April 17-22 and May 10 - July 15, 1915. Dated entries describe herring fishing industry, reports about locations and abundance of sea herring, purse-seining, observations of sea herring numbers, and results of interviews with local captains.
