Some notes on specimens caught are included (type and quantities of fish or other marine life such as urchins, sea stars, brachiopods, cnidaria, and mollusks). Localities are not listed in this volume, but the albatross was known to be in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, then traveling back and forth between San Francisco and the Hawaiian Islands (based on the history of the ship's activities).
