Storm water drainage facilities have been associated with increased mosquito problems within developing areas of Burlington County, New Jersey. Biweekly larval surveillance was conducted in 35 storm water drainage facilities during the 1979 mosquito breeding season. Data obtained revealed that 80% of these facilities supported mosquito breeding and that 94% of the mosquitoes were vector or nuisance species. Data indicated that certain species are associated with specific types of storm water drainage facilities.
