Alexander Wetmore records observations and information about specimens of birds and mammals in Kansas, California, and Arizona during 1907. The folder includes a notebook and loose pages. Notebook: Specimen numbers include (birds) 2415-3133 and (mammals) 20-25. Entries are chronological and pages are numbered. For each place he collects he records specimen details (collection, location, appearance, size, and stomach contents). Additionally there is usually a depiction of the place where he collected that day, often in-depth descriptions of the landscape, weather conditions, path traveled, and birds' behaviors and songs. Notes on the left-hand side of entries highlight birds, specimens, or indicate if specimens were sent to someone. January 7 - February 7, he collected in Stockton, California, frequently in the vicinity of San Joaquin River, Buttricks Grove. February 23 - June 28 he collects in Arizona, largely basing out of Williams, Arizona. He spends time collecting at Crater Mountain and Coconino plains. He specifies collecting efforts in the notes for Ash Fork (April 1-June 16), Anita Mine (June 18-25), Grand Canyon (June 26- 28). He notes collecting in Arizona the a Mr. Scott occasionally. July 20 through November, he collects in Lawrence, Kansas, frequently near the Wakarusa River. Several mentions and specimens attributed to C.D. Bunker. Monthly bird lists are on pages 43, 55, 73, and 135Loose pages are descriptions of specimens (numbers 1-73), headed by scientific and common name of bird,and date of collection. In descriptions he discusses the specimen and the circumstances surrounding its collection (behavior, location, interaction). Those that include collecting dates are between 1906-1907.
