Notes

Correspondence from Douglass Houghton to John Torrey, dated 1832-1839. Houghton's first two letters, both dated 1832, tell of expeditions past and future, and include catalogues of plant specimens. The third letter, dated 1839, finds him just returned from another expedition but dealing with issues related to the Michigan state survey, and staffing problems in the botany department of the University of Michigan, which has lost professors for lack of adequate funding.
