This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, on the Eastern Area Cruise 35, aboard the RV Thomas Washington, 1968. Materials include: bird observation data sheets, fix data sheets, and a list of birds collected. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., specimen or band no., and remarks. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, calling, etc.). Some bird observation sheets are handwritten and include date, # miles, hours, species abbreviations, and bird counts. Fix data sheets include: ship, date, sunrise (time, lat., long.), sunset (time, lat., long.), total miles traveled, position (time, lat., long), and course or speed change. A handwritten list of birds collected includes common names, and tallies for quantities collected. Also included is a typed photocopied preliminary report.
