Notes

Correspondence from William Manlius Smith to John Torrey, dated September 17, 1846, informing Torrey that he has left a large bundle of plant specimens from "Asia Minor" for him with his brother J. Calvin Smith of Coenties Slip. The plants were gathered by another brother Azariah Smith, Jr., a "missionary to the Armenians." Smith asks Torrey to check the plants' identifications, as his brother is "not a very accurate botanist."
