This publication is a bibliographic listing of papers, articles and books published on or about molluscs used in research as well as in aquaculture. Invertebrates have an important role in biomedical research. THey are relatively easy to maintain, less expensive and less labor intensive than more traditional laboratory animals. Use of invertebrates in research is considered a replacement and a refinement alternative to the use of vertebrates. The use of invertebrates as alternatives assists researchers to meet the policies, guidelines and laws regarding animal welfare. The bibliographic citations in this document cover the period 2002 to approximately 1973. If the article or book is available at the National Agricultural Library (NAL), the NAL Call Number is provided. Web site references for molluscs is also provided for additional information.
