Notes:

The photograph album documents work Alexander Wetmore conducted to gather data on economic status and geographical distribution of birds and mammals for the United States Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey. Work took place in Wyoming, 1910; Alaska, 1911; Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands, 1911-1912. Includes images of Wetmore, Merritt Cary, Daniel Denison Streeter, and Arthur Cleveland Bent. Photographs are numbered, and captioned with location, description, date, and sometimes the lack of a negative. Numbers may correspond with those in film notes of related items. Subject matter of Wyoming and Alaska includes candid shots of members of the traveling party, terrain and towns seen during travel, camp sites, researchers preparing specimens, sites of Yellowstone National Park, specimens prepared for shipment, cowboys at Frontier Day in Jackson Wyoming, structures of Native Americans, skin boats in Alaska, local people at work, and wildlife and vegetation. Includes locations around Lake Washington near Kirkland, Washington, and Vancouver island.Photographs for Puerto Rico document vegetation (sometimes with Latin names), terrain, pastures, rivers, farms and plantations, farming methods, rock formations, beaches, town markets. Sites include R弛 Piedras, El Yunque, Culebrita Island [Isla Culebrita], and Desecheo Island.
