Album 1 Biological Survey, 1914-1922. Photographs taken on field investigations in Utah and California, 1914; Utah and Montana, 1915; Utah, 1916; Arkansas, 1917; New Mexico, California, and Oregon, 1918; Florida, 1919; South Carolina, 1922; Minnesota and North Dakota, 1922. Images were taken while Wetmore worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey. Photographs are dated, and captioned with description and location. Section on Utah documents Wetmore's investigation into the nature and origin of duck disease and feeding habits of waterfowl in California and Utah. Photographs document dead and ill ducks;, catching and banding ducks; examples of adult and newly born birds (listed with Latin and common names), nests, and their environments; agricultural fields; pet heron named Oswald; pens where sick birds were kept; methods of collecting specimens; and campsites.Images from California and the southwestern United States document Wetmore's investigations into damage done by birds to rice crops. Images document bombs to scare away migrating birds; examples of damaged crops; gun clubs and individuals actively dealing with the duck population. Succeeding images show examples of birds Wetmore observed and their environments. Includes photographs of Wetmore, Albert Kenrick Fisher, and E. L. Pineau.
