Originally published in 1778 (although the DSB, vol. 7, page 585, cites a publication date of 1779 instead), under the title: Flore françoise.

"Tom. V is by Augustin P. de Candolle alone. Tom. I-IV were issued in 1805, the title pages being subsequently changed for others bearing the later date."--BM (Nat. hist.). See also the article by Williams in Journal of Botany 34 (1896), page 431-432.

The hand-colored botanical map is signed by A.G. Dezauche fils; the eleven leaves of plates in t. 5 are signed by the illustrator De Seve.

Tome 4 was originally issued in 2 parts (thus tome 5 is called "tome V, ou sixième volume").

Tome 5 has a variant: half-title "Vol. VI" with bookseller's advertisements on verso, reset title page, lacking errata leaf but the "Addition" on page 644. "Tom. V" in directional line.
