Daily notes, letters, and scientific illustrations from Correia's time as expedition assistant for the Whitney South Sea Expedition including Samoa, the Society islands, and the Cook islands (in vol. 1) and the Marquesas, the Society islands, the Austral islands, the Line islands, and the Pitcairn islands (in vol. 2)

Vol. 1 has loose typescript sheets of corrected bound material laid in at rear and newspaper clippings lightly pasted throughout. Vol. 2 includes several hand-colored scientific illustrations, some folded.

Correia was a bird collector for numerous AMNH expeditions. On his trip to with the Whitney South Sea Expedition, he acted as team leader for six months in 1923 while the established leader, Rollo Beck, met with the AMNH counsel in New York. Correia and his wife, Virginia, traveled with the expedition for four years, working through the Samoan, Fijian and Tongan Archipelagos.
