Notes
The notebook is a collection of observations of birds in the vicinity of North Freedom, Wisconsin, compiled by Alexander Wetmore in August to October 1903. Entries are journal-style, and organized by date. Pages are numbered. Entries describe his regular outings, and depict behaviors and individual and flocks of birds in the woods and fields of the area. When locations are noted, they are usually listed by landmark or landowner's name. Particular attention is paid to descriptions of birdsongs. He mentions outings with A.B. Stout, and other companions by first and sometimes last name. At the end of the notebook is a list of birds seen and a bird count. Includes loose insert sketch of a Scarlet Tanager.
