Indexes (v. 2, p. [257]-324) refer to the volumes as "volumes XIII and XIV"; signatures and plates also refer to vol. XIII and XIV, indicating that the "Researches" bore those volume numbers in a series of translations of Humboldt's works issued by Longmans.
