The diary was written by Richard F. Darsie, Jr. during the Smithsonian-Bredin Caribbean Expedition, 1959. Entries cover March 29 - May 4, 1959. Richard F. Darsie was an entomologist, specializing in the study of mosquitos, that participated in the expedition with Waldo Schmitt.
