This field book documents Goldman's field research and travels in Mexico between 1 October 1892 and 4 April 1893. The notes are a narrative account describing plant, mammal, bird, and reptile specimens observed and collected, routes traveled, and other observations during his trip. Goldman uses both common and scientific names to refer to specimens. Examples of frequently noted specimens include mice, rats, voles, shrews, squirrels, raccoons, and rabbits, lizards, bats, sparrows, and pine vegetation. Many more varieties of specimen are included. Goldman includes notes on how common specimen are, number of specimens taken, weather, environmental conditions, and elevations. Locations include but are not limited to San Luis Potosi, Salazar, Larma (Campeche), Tl‡lpan, Ajusco, Huitzilae, Amecameca, and Sierra de Pachuca.
