Notes

"The first scientific review journal of any extent and duration"--David A. Kronick, A history of scientific and technical periodicals, p. 162.

Published in 37 vols. from 1752 to 1808; the series also contains two supplements: 'Primae [-tertiae] decadis supplementum' in four vols. (1763-85) and 'Primae [-tertiae] decadis index triplex' in three vols. (1770-93).

Most vols. were published in four parts, each with a separate title page but continuous pagination and register.

The imprints vary; from 1756 to 1763 and again from 1767 booksellers in London (from 1779 in Edinburgh also) are named among the foreign book-trade outlets: 1756-58: ".. Londini apud A. Linde, .."; 1759-63: ".. Londini apud C. G. Seyffert, .."; 1767-75: ".. Londini apud Io. Nourse, .."; 1776-79: ".. Londini apud Fr. [sic] Elmsly .."; 1779: ".. Londini apud Io. Nourse .."; 1779-85: ".. Londini apud Fr. [sic] Elmsly. Edinburgi apud Io. Balfour. .."; 1785: ".. Londini apud Pr. Elmsly. Edinburgi apud Io. Balfour, .."; 1786-94: ".. Londini apud Pr. Elmsly, Edinburgi apud Elph. Balfour, ..".

Head- and tail-pieces; initials; side-notes.
