Notes
This field book documents Nelson's field research between Icy Cape and Wrangell Island in Alaska between 25 July and 11 August 1881 on the ship Corwin during the so called "Corwin Expedition". During this time, Nelson was on general assignment to study the zoology of Alaska, as well as geology, meteorology, and ethnology. This notebook contains ethnological, geological, and zoological notes. Birds, walruses (at "Plover Bay"), measurements of a polar bear, and descriptions of other animals are included. Weather conditions were recorded along with temperatures. Sketches of locations and ethnological artifacts are also included.
