Notes
Walcott compiles notes on sites across New York state from 1886 to 1890, detailing characteristics of the deposits of limestone, sandstone, and shale observed in the Cambrian strata. Site notes are usually several handwritten pages, and are currently housed in individual acid-free envelopes. Each set of notes gives details descriptions of an area, usually near a body of water, discussing vegetation, erosion, type and quality of sand, along with implications of observations. Most sets of notes include sketches detailing the strata of the site. Locations are through out New York state, several in Washington County. Locations were in the vicinity of Marble River, Essex County, Comstock, Fort Ann, Greenwich, Renssalaer, Lake George, Lake Champlain, Chateaugay River, and Potsdam.
