The journal and news clipping document Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in New York, April 14 - 23, 1932. Includes work he completed of game refuges in the Adirondack region to observed conditions of deer populations during the winter, analyzing presence of disease and winter diet. Entries are dated and describe travel details (accommodations, mode of travel, time of day, destinations), colleagues with whom he worked, list of officials with name and title (location), vegetation (enroute, phenology), daily activities, lists of plants (trees and shrubs) by deer, porcupines; weather, meetings with local officials, geological landmarks, mammals and tracks observed. Entries also begin from the back of the notebook and are organized by type of mammals (common name) and detailing observations and specimen details. Locations include DeBar refuge.
