Notes

The field book is part of a collection of Waldo L. Schmitt papers. Schmitt was a carcinologist. During the summers of 1924 and 1925, Schmitt was at the Carnegie Institution's Marine Laboratory at Tortugas, Florida, surveying the crustacean fauna of the area, identifying crustaceans found in the stomachs of fishes, and taking underwater photographs. This field book consists in notes, dated July 22-24, 1924, transferred to a diary. They give the number of stations, and depth of hauls and soundings performed in each. The seven first pages of notes appear to have been torn away.
