Notes

Correspondence from William Hincks to John Torrey, undated [probably between 1847-1848, when Hincks was visiting America], instructing Torrey regarding a parcel Hincks unintentionally left at Torrey's house in Princeton after a recent visit. Hincks relates an anecdote about getting shortchanged at the Princeton train station and leaving a note for the 75 cents he was owed to be given to "Prof. Torrey"; he suggests Torrey use the money to prepay the parcel's passage to Philadelphia, where Hincks is staying, or enclose it for Hincks to use to pay upon its receipt.
