Notes

Correspondence from George Lawson to John Torrey, dated 1863, discussing the fern species Woodsia obtusa. Lawson asks Torrey to send him a "fertile frond" of W. obtusa to compare with local plants; he goes on to describe a few other species of fern that have lately been found in his vicinity. Unresolved plant names mentioned include Lastrea focnisecii and Scolopendrium vulgare.
