Correspondence from Melines Conklin Leavenworth to John Torrey, dated 1836-1845, discussing the many Southern plants he encounters (and collects for Torrey) during his postings in Louisiana and Florida. Leavenworth's letters often include long lists of plant "observed" in the previous month or two. Obsolete plant names mentioned include Amphianthus pusillus, Cacalia tuberosa, Caprifolium, Casalea ovata, Casalea lanceolata, Chapmania, Cooperia, Cooperia drummondii, Crataegus elliptica, Fosteria, Galardia, Ilex laurifolia, Petalostemon villosum, Plantago gnaphalioides, Podostigma pubescens, Prunus chicasa, and Tuberosa.
