Notes

Correspondence from C.F. Meissner to John Torrey, dated June 27, 1872, regarding the difficulty Meissner had in receiving payment for a bill of exchange sent to him by Torrey on behalf of John J. Crooke. (Meissner's name was incorrectly spelled on the bill and therefore refused by the agents.) As Crooke purchased Meissner's herbarium a few years before Meissner's death in 1874, the payments Meissner refers to in this letter are presumably for that purpose.

In English.
