Notes:

This volume is a catalog of bird specimens collected on islands of Kure Atoll and the Midway Islands on the Pacific Ocean from 1963 to 1965 for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program. This is volume #1 for Kure and Midway, according to a notation on the cover. Collectors include Ludwig, W. O. Wirtz II, R. R. Fleet, D. L. Stadel, P. G. Du Mont, and others. There are two sets of records in the volume. The first set, with records dating from September 6, 1963 to February 6, 1965, records bird collections made. Fields include no., species, age, sex, measurements, collector, date, locality, and remarks. The no. field begins at 20001 and ends at 20429. Collections were made on Sand and Eastern Islands of the Midway Islands and Green Island of Kure Atoll. A few non-bird collections are also recorded, including Monachus schauinslandi pups, hermit crab, eel, gecko, rodents, and parasites. A page approximately halfway through the volume notes that "ectoparasite collection, Kure Atoll, Hawaii, commenced August 14, 1964." Records after this page date from December 12, 1963 to February 6, 1965; some are not in chronological order. Fields include no., reference no., [bird] species, age, sex, collector, date, locality, and collection location. The no. field begins at 1 and ends at 318. Reference no. field includes FWS numbers [presumably bird band numbers] and FN numbers, which cross-references these records with specimen records in the first part of the volume. Collections were made on Green Island of Kure Atoll. The collection location field notes the parts of the bird from which collections were made.
