Notes
The diary documents Edward Preble's travel to Idaho and Wyoming, March 17 - April 27, 1911 documenting elk and other wildlife populations in Wyoming and discussing the benefits of game preserves. Entries are dated, and sometimes include locations. Subject matter includes observations on and physical surroundings, flora, and wildlife populations (antelope, coyotes, moose, deer) especially management elk populations. Details include elk farming versus wild elk; herd makeup of bulls, cows, and calves; feeding; issues with wolves; and notes from interviews with residents about elk. Locations include the vicinity of (Wyoming) Jackson, National Elk Refuge, Gros Ventre River [Flat Creek], Cheney, St Anthony, Wilson, and (Idaho) Caribou-Targhee National Forest.
