Alexander Wetmore travels to Minnesota and North Dakota in 1922 to investigate the possibility of creating a game refuge on Island Lake, Minnesota, collect specimens of Canada Geese, and obtain information on their distribution and occurrence in North Dakota. Work was completed when working for the U.S. Department Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey. Includes field notes, circa 25 August - 25 September 1922, correspondence, reports, and an expense book. Includes reports entitled: On Damage by Mallards to Wheat in the Shock in North Dakota (covering damage in Kidder county September 1-11, 1922); On the Condition of the Chase Lake Bird Reservation on September 5, 1922; Report on the Proposed Game Refuge to Cover an Island in Island Lake, Aitkin County, Minnesota (includes itinerary). Two sets of notes include lists of film, bird lists, contacts and attending information usually relating to specimens.
