Alexander Wetmore went to Panama in 1954 to visit the Canal Zone Biological Area and collect bird specimens in Chiriqui. Report indicates most of his work focused on the 4000 -6000 foot elevations in the subtropical zone. He was assisted by Beatrice Thielen Wetmore. The Netherlands Antilles and Venezuela were also visited.
