Authorship according to Nissen and Stafleu, Plates supposedly mainly copied from Jacquin, Nikolaus Joseph, Freiherr von. Nicolai Josephi Jacquin Selectarum stirpium Americanarum historia. Vienna, 1780-1781, but actually only very few plants treated in Jacquin's work are depicted in the present work.

Continuation of: Dreyhundert auserlesene amerikanische Gewächse nach Linneischer Ordnung / Johann Zorn. Nuremberg, 1785-1788.

Volumes 1-2 published in two parts each, with separate title pages, but continuous paging and signatures; v.3 published in 1 part only (v.3, part 2 never published)
