Notes

Correspondence from J. Smyth Rogers to John Torrey, dated 1827. A series of four anxious letters, all sent in June 1827, regarding job prospects in Albany, West Point, and New York City; first both Rogers and Torrey seem to have applied to the same position in Albany; when Rogers is rejected for the Albany job, he begins to campaign to take over Torrey's current position at West Point, which the latter is looking to vacate.
