This item contains two letters to Mearns regarding his field research. One letter, 12 September 1891, to Mearns from Avery, thanks Mearns for a report he sent about his research in Minnesota. The other letter, 19 February 1891, from J. A. Allen of the Department of Mammalogy and Ornithology, American Museum of Natural History, contains information about labels for several bird specimens, but does not mention where the specimens were collected.
