Seven page itinerary of the Simpitan expedition Mearns participated in from 17 May to 29 May 1904 in the Philippines. This itinerary includes narrative, journal-like entries of daily events. Mearns includes detailed descriptions of the flora and fauna of localities visited including descriptions of water cabbage, mosquito repelling lotus, grasses, coconuts, other vegetation, and especially birds at Lake Liguasan, and abundant crocodiles at Lake Buluan. Notes also include details of military activity against the Moros, including a brief account of Captain McCoy crossing the divide from the Santa Cruz side of the Gulf of Davao to kill Datto Ali.
