An adaptation of the 'Complete Dictionary of Practical Gardening' of R.W. Dickson, which was published serially in 1805-07 under the pseudonym of 'Alexander Macdonald'. Edwards supplied the plates of a serial publication, the 'New botanic garden', which began in 1805, was completed in 1807, and was re-issued in 1812.

Paged continuously; plates are numbered continuously with the exception of plate 53 which serves as the frontispiece for volume 2.
