Male and female.

Species identified in 1920s as Black-breasted or Rain quail (Coturnix coromandelicus).

On back of painting: pencilled notes "No 172 Tetrao - Yellasha male & female; The male has black on the breast."

Measurements 10 x 16 inches.

Purchased in London in 1924 by Casey A. Wood as part of a collection of watercolours in a portfolio labelled "E.C.K. 1800", and donated to the Blacker-Wood Library of Zoology and Ornithology.
